Brake Inspections and Service
Be sure to get a thorough brake inspection regularly to keep you safe on the road. If you hear grinding or feel vibrations when applying the brakes, bringing your vehicle in for an inspection may reduce overall cost of brake repairs. Calipers are not something that is normally replaced with brakes, but allowing your brakes to go extremely low or without service can cause the calipers to overextend and damage its seals. Also a lack of service over the years can cause the pins to become dry and can cause the calipers to begin to seize up and brake pads begin to drag. Old brake fluid can cause spongy, non-responsive brakes. We are here to help avoid all this.
Suspension
Suspension can affect your daily drive even if you don’t realize it. One worn-out component can cause many other issues such as; rattling or clunking, drifting or pulling while driving down a straight road, and it can even cause your steering wheel to be off-center. If you hold the steering wheel straight but your vehicle doesn’t drive straight, there is a problem! Luckily we are experts with suspension and we are here to help with any questions or repairs you may have. Suspension repairs can get expensive, especially if you don’t have an expert on your side, but you do in this case!
Computerized Diagnostics & Repairs
Diagnostics allow a technician to determine exactly what repairs are necessary without adding nonessential repairs. Our technicians use a diagnostic computer, to read your auto systems and analyze fault codes and data. Repair work after diagnostics, may include electrical system fixes, brake and steering system adjustments, fluid leak fixes and tire balancing.
Transmission Diagnostics and Repairs
Knowing when your car’s transmission needs service can be tricky since many transmission problems develop gradually, and they might not always be immediately obvious. However, there are several signs and symptoms that can indicate your transmission is in trouble and may need professional attention. Do you hear grinding, whining, or clunking noises while driving? Does your car unexpectedly change gears without you shifting, or if you press the accelerator and the engine revs is there no increase in speed? These can be signs that something’s wrong with your transmission.
Avoid the major expense of a transmission failure! Regular transmission service and fluid changes are crucial for extending the life of your transmission. Transmissions are complex and keeping the fluid clean and at the proper level helps maintain the system’s performance. Most manufacturers recommend checking the transmission fluid every 50,000 to 90,000 km (or as specified in your owner’s manual) to ensure it’s in good condition. For automatic transmissions, it’s also a good idea to have a professional flush the transmission fluid and replace the filter as part of regular maintenance.
Check Your Cooling System
Your car or truck’s cooling system is vital to maintaining your engine’s temperature, preventing overheating, damage to components, and ensuring your vehicle runs efficiently. At Blade Automotive, our mechanics will visually inspect the radiator for any signs of leaks, cracks, or damage. All hoses that carry coolant to and from the engine, radiator, and heater core are also checked. We analyze the coolant overflow reservoir for proper fluid levels and look for any signs of corrosion or contamination. As well, the thermostat housing and water pump will be checked for leaks or any signs of failure. Radiator cleaning and flushing may be required. Regular maintenance—including coolant checks, radiator inspections, and thermostat testing—will ensure your cooling system is running efficiently and can help avoid costly engine damage. If your car is experiencing signs of overheating or poor heater performance, or any of the symptoms mentioned above, give Blade’s a call!

FAQ
Why should I get regular tune ups?
Regular tune ups are simpler than you’d think. Tune-ups include everything from a basic oil change to a major fuel system cleaning. Clean engine oil and premium fuel go a long way to keeping everything in your vehicle running like new. Do Not Fear Premium Fuel!
Do you work on all models of cars and trucks?
Yes, we do! Our technicians work on all makes and models of foreign and domestic vehicles. If you’re driving it, we can fix it. We specialize in British and European car and truck repairs.
Can I get an estimate first before I get auto repairs done?
Yes, certainly! Our service advisor will give you an estimate before any work is started. We don’t replace parts unless they’re needed, another reason we get so much business from referrals. Give us a call and schedule an appointment for the estimate.
How often should I get my oil changed?
The answer will depend on the make and model of the vehicle, the type of oil used, and driving habits. We recommend stopping in to change your oil every 6,000 kms no matter what you drive. We want your vehicle to last a lifetime – not 3-5 years, which seems like the norm these days. Changing your engine oil every 6,000 kms will play a large part in your vehicle’s long-term health.
How can I stop my brakes from squealing?
Brakes squealing can be caused by various factors, but there are several steps you can take to fix or prevent it. When you bring your car into Blade’s Automotive, we will clean the brake components to remove dirt, debris, or brake dust that can accumulate on the brake pads and rotors, causing squealing. We’ll also check and lubricate the brake pads. If the brake pads are improperly aligned or there’s an issue with the caliper, they may not make proper contact with the rotor. We will ensure everything is properly installed. Sometimes, moisture buildup due to weather conditions can cause temporary squealing. If it’s just occasional, it may go away once the brakes dry. If the squealing persists it’s best to have our mechanics inspect your brake system, as there could be an underlying issue.
I just bought a truck - Do you do inspections?
Yes! Blade’s Automotive is happy to look over your new ride.
Can you text me when my car is ready to be picked up?
Definitely. We will ask you for your preference for text or email communications, both before your visit and while your car or truck is with us. Our advanced customer booking system will ensure you get notified as soon as your car is ready!
